The BrickBoy upgrade kit costs more than twice as much as the Lego Game Boy

Three versions of the BrickBoy are offered with the cheapest option being the Essential Kit which can only play grayscale Game Boy titles and is limited to a mono speaker for audio. It’s priced at 129 euros, or about $150, which is more than double its price A $60 Lego toy Which BrickBoy does not include. Early backers can get a discount of up to 99 euros, or about $115, but that’s still much more expensive than Many portable emulators from Anbernic Which is more capable and ready to play right out of the box.

The more capable BrickBoy Gamer Kit, which adds support for Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games, compatibility with Bluetooth headsets, and a rechargeable battery, costs €169, or about $197, without discounts. The Collector’s Edition that can turn a Lego Game Boy into a functional, demo-powered display piece is priced at €189, or about $220 USD, with all editions expected to ship sometime in March 2026. That’s a lot of money for a replica Game Boy with questionable ergonomics and controls, but since it’s ROM-based, BrickBoy won’t ask you to get original toy carts like Natalie Nerd Upgrade Kit will.
