What is the difference between a smart speaker and Smart TV? Smart TVs will provide you with built-in streaming apps while a smart speaker usually includes a built-in panel Voice assistant – Usually Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
Most soundbars will work on any TV whether the soundbar or TV is smart or not, but there are some exceptions – for example, the FlexConnect system, such as TCL onewill only work with TVs made by the same manufacturer, and Roku Wireless Soundbars will only work with those TVs. However, if you’re looking for an all-in-one speaker for streaming music with a voice assistant, these are the speakers you should buy.

The Polk React with DTS Virtual Surround Sound is a single-speaker update to one of my favorite smart speakers, the Polk Command Bar. Although it is missing a subwoofer, you can always buy an additional subwoofer and subwoofer as well. 3D surround sound technology delivers excellent sound quality, and the onboard Alexa is quick to respond. But the Yamaha YAS-209 is worth considering for its subwoofer and additional HDMI port, and can often be found for the same price or less than the Polk.

The Yamaha YAS-209 delivers excellent sound quality in compact speakers with built-in Amazon Alexa voice control. The microphones work well in noisy environments, and you can use them when streaming music. The soundbar offers DTS Virtual:X surround sound processing and a wireless subwoofer. The YAS-209 doesn’t use the company’s MusicCast system, so you can’t sync with other Yamaha speakers. It is often sold at a lower price.
With the addition of Dolby Atmos, the Sonos Beam Gen 2 is now the mid-priced smart speaker. It offers the option of either Alexa or Google Voice Assistant, and the Sonos ecosystem is one of the best music streaming platforms out there. You might miss deep bass without a subwoofer, but this compact speaker makes your movies sound huge with its virtual surround capabilities.
After Sonos ditched Google Assistant with its latest speakers, the decision left Bose as a high-end solution for people who want the option of a built-in voice assistant. The Sonos Bose Smart Ultra Speaker uses custom, optimized Dolby Atmos speakers for an extra kick in movies, and the soundbar features plenty of bass for people who don’t want the expense or have room for an additional subwoofer.
