The best features you don’t use on Apple’s TV Box

The Apple TV 4K is three years old, and yet it somehow keeps coming up with new tricks. It’s easy to overlook TVOS 26 Updates when you just want to turn on the box to watch the show. But have you already tried the new karaoke feature that turns iPhones into microphones? Or have you watched a super-smooth FaceTime call on TV when the camera catches a 6-year-old at the height of his sugar rush?

I’m really impressed with the latest Apple TV features, and I suggest spending five minutes getting to know them to spread a little cheer – preferably before friends and family visit.

In this week’s episode of One More Thing, which you can watch embedded above, I explain what it was like to use some of these features with my family, and review some of the new tvOS 26 settings you’ll need to improve your overall experience.

It looks like there are some additional perks coming later this month. Beta builds of tvOS 26.2 reveal a way to easily switch to the operating system Safe Mode for Kids without creating an official Apple account. This is useful for any surprise little guests you’d like to broadcast live to Snoopy From Die Hard (But who am I to judge you Traditional Christmas movie options).
