Earlier this month, a jury found that Tesla is partially responsible for the death of the 22 -year -old Nabel Benefides, who was killed by a model and her friend Delon Annolo. Tesla was ordered to pay the families of the victims $ 243 million in compensatory and punitive damage, which is an amazing result of a company that was able to avoid the responsibility of the accidents that involve its partially independent programs.
In the deposit, the legal team said that the model driver bears all the responsibility for the accident. They ask the court to nullify the ruling, or at least orders a new arbitration trial.
The company’s attorneys write: “The $ 243 million ruling against Tesla flies in the face of the Florida Basic Law, the condition of legal procedures and proper instinct,” noting that McGgy pressed the accelerator to bypass the automated pilot in seconds before the accident. “The manufacturers of cars do not believe in the world against the damage caused by reckless drivers.”
Lawyers also claim that the plaintiffs should not be allowed to enter evidence of evidence from the CEO of Tesla El Musk, who has long claimed that the company’s vehicles are able to level higher than self -government than they are already. They called for claims about data coverage by Tesla – the company was accused of blocking the camera data from the police investigating the accident – was wrong and “inflamed” the jury against the company.
The suggestion was presented by Jeepson Den lawyers, a company that represented Tesla in a lawsuit against a former employee and a technician accused of stealing commercial secrets for an automatic hand.
