Steam store pages are now wider

Valve is expanding its Steam store pages as part of a new update that will be rolled out today. With the changes, “Many Pages” will be expanded from “940px to 1200px now.” Valve says. The company chose this 1200px number because it found it “seems like a good balance where we can display more content on the screen without overwhelming the page and making it difficult to navigate”.

If your browser or client window is narrower than 1,200 pixels, Valve says that “Steam Store pages are designed to shrink appropriately to fit well” and that the pages adapt “to fit tablets, Steam Decks, and mobile devices.” Valve says it tested the changes “on a little old iPod that someone had lying around,” where “it mostly works, but things get really small.”

The changes follow Valve’s improvements to Steam Trailer Player for the store pages it introduced In Julywhich includes a more adaptable user interface and reprocessing of videos to work better with the new player.
