Spotify now lets you see weekly listening statistics

Spotify has rarely given its users a clear view into their listening habits. Until now, users have either had to link their accounts to services like Last.fm to track their music, or wait until the end of the year for Spotify to release its dedicated annual review, Wrapped, to see what they’ve listened to.

The streaming giant is now changing that with a new feature called Listening Statistics that will show users weekly numbers about their listening habits.

The stats will show your top artists and top songs for a given week, and will allow you to share these numbers with others using Instagram or WhatsApp, or with your friends directly on Spotify through New messaging feature in the app. Spotify said weekly highlights will also include special moments, such as a milestone or new event
Discovery, or fan moment.

The stats page also has an option to create a playlist based on songs you already like and what you might want to listen to next based on your listening habits.

To access your statistics, tap your profile picture, then select the Listening Statistics tab. From there, you’ll be able to check what you’ve been listening to and share stats.

Listening statistics are currently rolling out to free and premium users in over 60 countries. Spotify said it will continue to release annual recaps via Wrapped, which it normally has Very predictablewhere users are able to share each other’s best artists and other visions.

The new listening statistics may give users a better understanding of their listening patterns on a more regular basis, but it may kill the surprise element of discovering some tidbits about themselves at the end of the year.
