Sony unveils a 27-inch PlayStation monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate that can charge your PS5 controller


Sony held a State of Play event on Tuesday, focusing on the releases of new PS5 games in Japan and Asia. While it’s likely that most of the games shown off will eventually make their way to the US, the company did make a surprise reveal of a new PlayStation-branded game Gaming screen.

Revealed at the end of the show, the PlayStation Display has a 27-inch QHD IPS display that reaches 240Hz when connected to a PC and 120Hz when connected to a PS5, and will be released next year. The screen also has the unique feature of having a hook under the screen that can hold the PS5 DualSense controller and charge it.

This new PlayStation display appears to be part of Sony’s strategy to launch its own PlayStation-branded peripherals. In September, it was revealed Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, Designed to work with the PS5, which will also be released in 2026. After the event, Sony posted the specifications for the screen on its website PlayStation Blog:

  • Quad HD IPS screen with a resolution of up to 2560 x 1440 pixels
  • High Dynamic Range support with Auto HDR Tone Mapping which automatically adjusts HDR settings during setup on PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles
  • VRR support and refresh rates of up to 120Hz for smooth, seamless gameplay on PS5 and PS5 Pro controllers and 240Hz on compatible PC and Mac
  • Built-in charging hook for DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controller
  • Two HDMI IN ports (v2.1) and one DisplayPort IN port (v1.4)** for compatibility with PS5, PC, Mac or other devices
  • HDMI IN (v2.1) supports up to 2560 x 1440, 240Hz refresh rate, FRL, and VRR; DisplayPort IN (v1.4) supports up to 2560 x 1440, 240Hz refresh rate, and DSC
  • Two USB Type-A ports and one USB Type-C port can be used with PlayStation Link adapters or other devices
  • Built-in stereo speaker and 3.5mm audio output
  • Compatibility with select VESA mounting systems for a more flexible monitor setup

At the end of the reveal, there was a disclaimer saying, “Design and specifications are subject to change.”
