The specter of the most common cause of food poisoning — salmonellosis — is rearing its head in American food products once again. Chocolate bars listed at Spring & Mulberry were flagged as contaminated during routine third-party testing by the company’s contract manufacturer. A Mint Leaf product tested positive for Salmonella.
Salmonella is a food-borne illness that can cause a bacterial infection after consuming contaminated foods or beverages. Other lot codes are not affected.
What to do if your Spring & Mulberry chocolate bars are recalled
If you purchase Spring & Mulberry chocolate bars with one of the above batch codes on the package, do not eat them. Take a photo of the quantity code and email it to Recalls@springandmulberry.com For a refund or exchange, then throw away the chocolate.
Spring & Mulberry’s recall email states that if you purchase your bars from Amazon, include your Amazon order number or a screenshot of your order because Amazon does not allow Spring & Mulberry to search for orders by customer name or email alone.
The US Food and Drug Administration published the recall on January 15. There are no confirmed illnesses yet, and other payment codes are not affected.
A Spring & Mulberry representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
What other products were recalled in January due to salmonella contamination?

The recalled products are packaged in green bags with expiration dates ranging from August 2026 to January 2028 and have a large number beginning with the letter “A” or “3” for adhesive packaging.
Customers with Live it Up Super Greens packages that display numbers beginning with the letter “A” should discard them.
Superfoods has instructed its customers to throw away any affected Live it Up Super Greens packages. If you would like a refund, you will need to send an email Recall@artofenso.com With your name, order number and product photo.
On January 23, Navitas Organics joined the brands affected by the potential salmonella contamination, agreeing to… Voluntary recall of organic chia seeds. The recall includes 8-ounce bags of organic chia seeds in sealed stand-up bags bearing the following lot numbers:

- W31025286 (expiry date April 2027)
- W31025287 (expiry date April 2027)
- W31025311 (expiry date May 2027)
- W31025314 (expiry date May 2027)
- W31025315 (expiry date May 2027)

- W31025317 (expiry date May 2027)
In its FDA notice, Navitas Organics notes that the recall is a “precautionary measure” following a product recall from a chia seed supplier, and that there have been no reports of salmonella in its products.
Eight batches of chia seeds from Navitas Organics have been recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.
Navitas Organics has instructed any customer with affected packaging to “open the bag, discard the chia seeds, and dispose of the bag in a manner that renders it unusable.” To receive a refund, you must contact 855-215-5702 Between 8am and 8pm ET, Monday through Friday.
