Roblox’s 4D creation feature is now in open beta

Roblox last year Fired An open source AI model that can create 3D objects on the platform, helping users quickly design digital items such as furniture, vehicles, and accessories. The company claims that the tool, called Cube 3D, has so far helped users create more than 1.8 million 3D objects since its launch last March.

The company on Tuesday launched the open beta of its anticipated 4D creation feature that allows creators to create not just static 3D models, but fully functional interactive objects. The feature was there Early access Since November.

Roblox says 4D creation adds an important new layer: interactivity. Using this technology, users can design items that can move and interact with players in the game.

At launch, there are two types of object templates (called blueprints) that creators can try out.

The first is the “Car-5” scheme, which is used to create a car consisting of five separate parts: the main body and four wheels. Previously, cars were a single solid 3D object that could not move. The new system divides objects into parts and assigns behaviors to each of them so that they operate individually within the virtual world. AI can thus create cars with rotating wheels, making them more realistic and interactive.

The second is called “Body-1”, which can create anything made from a single piece, such as a simple box or a sculpture.

My first experience with 4D generation is a game called I wish sirPlayers can create cars they can drive, planes they can fly, and even dragons.

In the future, Roblox plans to let creators create their own blueprints so they have more freedom in deciding how objects behave. The company says it’s also developing new technology that can use a reference photo to create a detailed 3D model that matches the style of the photo (example below).

The company says it is developing more ways to help people create games and experiences using artificial intelligence, including a project it calls “Real-Time Dreaming.” Roblox CEO David Baszucki last month He explained This project will allow creators to build new worlds using “keyboard navigation and sharing text prompts in real time.”

The open beta comes on the heels of Roblox’s recent implementation of Mandatory face verification Users can access chat features in the game, and follow lawsuits and investigations related to child safety.
