Roblox CEO interview gets heated about child safety

Roblox CEO Dave Baszucki Join the New York Times Hard Fork Podcast To discuss the gaming platform New age verification feature – but he seems frustrated by the number of questions focused on children’s safety.

The interview began with Baszuki describing the feature, which will require all users who want to submit a facial scan if they want to access Roblox’s messaging features. But when asked about a report claiming the company prioritized growth over safety, Baszucki appeared to have had enough of the topic, replying: “Interesting. Let’s keep moving forward with this.”

And when co-host Kevin Rose agreed that one of the best ways Roblox could improve children’s safety was to improve its AI models, Baszucki insisted, “Good, so you’re in line with what we did. Cheers.”

“And I want to highlight that I came here because I love your podcast and I came to talk about everything,” he added. “So, if our PR people say, ‘Let’s talk about age limits for an hour,’ I’m up for that, but I love your group. “I thought I came here to talk about everything.”
