As a judge at the California Judicial Court, who has just retired after serving for 30 years, it was particularly desperate to read some of the latest comments from the elected San Francisco District Prosecutor Brooke Jenkins. She not only did not agree with a legal judgment but also chose Blame almost the entire judicial system of the county For the danger of public safety.
“The bigger part of the judges (San Francisco) does not treat drugs as a serious crime,” Jenkins said. Not having any claims for professional indecency, she described the “Culture of Judges”, allowing criminals to “use this courtroom as a rotating door”.
These accusations were soon followed by Comments from the chosen sheriff of Riverside County, Chad BiancoWhen he announced his plans to run for a governor.
“We are infected by liberal judges appointed by a progressive, liberal governor or governors who destroy our Criminal Justice System,” he said, “and causing what all of us is our most problem in California, and this is a growing crime, homelessness, drugs.”
Not only are such statements intentional attacks on an entire independent judicial system, they reflect a limited understanding of how public safety and justice are obtained and preserved in our communities.
Throughout my career, I had the privilege of knowing over a hundred of my colleagues throughout the country. Clearly stated, the Californians take advantage of an exclusive judicial system. As prominent members of the country’s largest court, they are incredibly dedicated, especially honest and impartial, well-educated and expertly trained.
Often works under Huge loads – While they have been applied among the most heartbreaking of human circumstances – the great majority is equally justified by grace and honor, faithfully fulfilling their swearing to maintain the laws and the constitution of California.
It may be customary for an arresting law enforcement officer or local prosecutor to express their disappointment in a particular decision or sentence, while conveying respect for the process. But he is irresponsible, dangerous and the last refuge of the constantly victims to attack publicly and personally attack the legitimate decisions of a particular judge, even less to neglect the whole body of them.
True and sustainable public safety and justice will forever slip out of those communities that allow one or two parties to the Criminal Justice system to present themselves as the only avant -garde, while any other partner in essential justice – even an exemplary impartial judicial system – are called obstacles they have their way. If you are listening to people whose unnecessary political game is to resurrect California’s unsuccessful cause to rely on law enforcement, prosecution and mass imprisonment to determine public safety through brute force in their communities, this will remain forever unrealized.
This will not deliver peace, without safety, no justice.
Everyone wants to live and raise their children in safe neighborhoods. However, public safety is not static and cannot be closely defined by how many arrests, persecution and imprisonment are committed after crimes. In those jurisdictions, it is found when the selected employees are dynamically cooperate, as justice partners are committed to preventing the next potentially harmful act before it happens.

These unions of the Community created by the Statute a decade ago as Community adjustment partnershipsInclude Chief Probation Director of the County, District Administrative Director, Sheriff, District Attorney, Public Defender, Police Heads, Social Services Directors, Court Officers and Community members. Successful groups really recognize and respect their basic roles as collective guardians of public safety. They rely on smart, evidence -based strategies that are funded, implemented and constantly reviewed to honestly appreciate what strategies they work.
This is one of the highest responsibilities of the state government to keep California communities safe. It has never been more important that everyone who is sworn in to preserve and protect, especially our selected employees, to work together in their communities in order to achieve real public safety and justice.
It has also never been more important for them to remain committed to supporting an independent judicial system and the rule of law.
