If you currently have Oura ring On your finger, you’re probably familiar with Oura Advisor, the company’s in-app chatbot that can answer your health questions. Oura announced today that it is launching its own AI model, within Oura Advisor, designed specifically to focus on women’s health: menstruation, menopause, fertility and more. However, it is currently only in testing under the Oura Labs tab of the app.
“This personalized model is a fundamental shift in how we responsibly deploy AI in health to meet the needs of our members,” said Ricky Bloomfield, Ora’s chief medical officer, in a press release. “Women’s health is too complex – and often overlooked – to rely on one-size-fits-all systems. By designing a model specifically for women and grounding it in reliable clinical science and real-world biodata, we are setting the standard for how we build responsible intelligence and scale it across more areas of health.”
What it looks like to test a new AI model at Oura Labs.
The new AI model was designed in collaboration with Oura’s own team of board-certified physicians and women’s health experts, and is the company’s first custom model. Great language model Made using Oura Advisor Generative artificial intelligence and Oura’s biometric tracking and health sensing algorithms. So, when asked a question related to women’s health, this new model is able to search a curated women’s health research library while analyzing data collected by the user’s Oura Ring to provide evidence-based answers.
Perhaps most importantly, this new version of Oura Advisor was created to answer questions in a way that is supportive and does not dismiss user concerns.
Chris Carey, clinical director of Women’s Health at Oura and a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, adds in the press release that this model is intended to help people prepare for appointments with their doctors: “For example, if someone asks, ‘Why is my period suddenly irregular, and is this something to worry about?'” Oura Advisor can walk them through what’s typical, what their data might show and what might be most helpful to bring up in conversations with their provider.”
The women’s health AI model is currently only available for testing and feedback in Oura Labs, where participation is optional. Even if you subscribe, you can always unsubscribe. Ora is also mentioned They will never sell or rent your health data, nor will they share your sensitive information without your consent.
Oura uses what it calls “private AI,” which means that all of its AI insights are processed and generated just on your device. The company is also collaborating with webAI, an artificial intelligence technology company Describes Aura As a “platform for intelligence to operate securely, scale independently, and evolve with user needs.” Some of their operations, such as population-level algorithms, may use cloud or hybrid architectures when it makes sense for the task at hand.
