NotebookLM’s chat feature gets a big upgrade Here’s what’s changing

Better evaluation of the source

NotebookLM is better at providing answers based on your sources, thanks to a new way of getting information from them. Answers will now be found by evaluating the initial question from multiple angles, which should provide a more comprehensive answer. Google says this is especially important for laptops with a large number of sources, where several factors need to be considered and evaluated to provide a good answer.

Your conversations are now saved and can be managed

Previously, any time you closed the NotebookLM tab, the chat would be cleared. Soon this will no longer be the case. Starting next week, you can save your conversations in a notebook. This is useful for notebooks that you return to frequently. You will no longer have to re-explain the context you added in your last conversation.

You can delete your chat history, and conversations you have in shared notebooks will remain viewable only to you.

Chat conversation styles are rolling out to everyone

While there are a few preset options to choose from, such as Analyzer or Learning Guide, the custom option is the standout feature here.
