Millions across US protest Trump as CA lawyers continue to sue

Resistance to Trump reignited in the U.S. and California on Saturday, underscoring the country’s multiple paths to ousting the president as state attorneys prepare for two legal hearings against his administration this week and next.

Across the country, some protesters held colorful signs, chanted in unison and they wore inflatable suits. This was No Kings’ second protest the first in Juneand it was much bigger this time, according to the organizers: More than 7 million people showed up at 2,700 scheduled events, compared to June’s rally, which featured 5 million people and 2,100 events.

Protesters criticized the administration’s crackdown on immigration, the deployment of the National Guard to Democratic-leaning states, the firing of federal workers and other policies. President Donald Trump’s net approval rating is now -15 percentage points, according to The Economist. Some Californians too showed their support for the state redirection measure, Proposition 50.

Protesters in Los Angeles were not violent, reports Mikhail Zinstein of CalMatters, who was on the ground in the center of Saturday. But police on horseback pounced on the demonstrators after issuing a number of dispersal orders in the evening to clear the area. Some officers also fired less lethal ammunition. Several people were detained and there was at least one arrest, according to ABC 7.

Tens of thousands of protesters rallied together elsewhere in California, including the northern region of the state, San Francisco and on Bay Area, Central Valley and on Inland Empire.

In response to protests across the country, Trump posted AI-generated video of himself wearing a crown, flying a jet with the words “King Trump” and directing demonstrators with a brown substance.

Attorney General of California sued the Trump administration 44 times and two of those cases will lead to subsequent court hearings a week and the next one. In both cases, California lawyers will try to persuade judges to overturn Trump’s control of the California National Guard. Whether Trump could federalize California troops was a question continues legal battle from June and the problem is extended to others countries.

Meanwhile, Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sunday condemned the Trump administration after a military shell detonated over Interstate 5. The shell exploded during a live fire demonstration at Camp Pendleton in San Diego County in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps.

Newsom previously opposed the demonstration, claiming it was “reckless” and closed a section of the main highway. No injuries were reported, although shrapnel fell on vehicles, reports New York Times.
