Sony held a State of Play showcase on Thursday for PS5 games, and part of the show was dedicated to upcoming Konami releases. The beginning was by revealing a new collection of Metal Gear Solid games, which includes the only title that has not yet crossed over to next-generation consoles: Metal Gear Solid 4.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. Two remastered bundles of two previously released games (Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker). This marks a happy day for Metal Gear fans who have been waiting for MGS4 to move to newer consoles. The game was first released in 2008 for the PS3, and is the only game in the series that Konami has never attempted to re-release or remaster until this remake.
The collection will be released on August 27. It is available for pre-order on the website BSN store For $50.
PS5 is the only platform that’s been confirmed, but it could make its way to PC and Xbox Series Remake of Final Fantasy VII and New birth).
The set is a modified version of both games. Both titles will include improved resolution, better frame rates, and custom controls. It may also feature other quality of life upgrades, but these have not been confirmed yet.
Along with the two main games, the new collection will include the scenario and main books for both titles, as well as the digital soundtracks. One interesting game is a third and smaller game, Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. Ghost Babel was first released on the Game Boy Color in 2000, and was Konami’s follow-up to Metal Gear Solid, which had been released two years earlier on PlayStation. The Game Boy Color game used the same top-down graphics as the first and second Metal Gear games released for the NES and MSX2 consoles, but is officially non-canon in the Metal Gear franchise.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is the final game in the Metal Gear Solid saga and features Solid Snake’s final mission where he finally puts an end to the Patriots, the mysterious group that seems to be behind all the events of the previous games.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker follows the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. Snake, or rather Big Boss, created his own military faction in Colombia. While building his own army, Big Boss is asked to help fight another military force that is growing in power and developing its own nuclear tank.
