Lyft and Waymo partnership to bring robotics to Nashville

Waymo concluded a deal with the Lyft horse riding company to launch the Robotaxi service in Nashville in 2026.

The company said on Wednesday that it will start testing its fleet of independent and independent Jaguar I-Pace vehicles in the Nashville area in the coming months and will open the service to the public next year.

The partnership agreement announced on Wednesday comes as Waymo increases its expansion from Robotaxi from its first commercial market in Phoenix to Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The alphabet -owned company has previously announced plans to bring robotics to Miami, Washington, DCDallas and Denver.

The deal also shows Waymo’s desire to exceed being a single operator and that you are equipped with independent vehicle technology. Earlier this year, Waymo launched a Robotaxi service with Uber in Atlanta and Austin. Under this arrangement, Waymo is responsible for the vehicle test, road assistance, and certain aspects of contestants’ support, while Uber runs fleet services such as vehicle cleaning, maintenance, inspection, shipping, and warehouse operations through a company called Moove Cars.

Arrange Waymo with Lyft in Nashville is the same. Lyft will also deal with fleet services, such as preparing for cars, maintenance, infrastructure and warehouse operations through fully -owned Flexdrive. Lift said he was investing in the Availat facility that was built for this purpose to support the fleet.

The Waymo-Lyft partnership in Nashville has a major difference from the company’s relationship with Uber in Atlanta and Austin. In Nashville, Robotaxi customers will be able to reach Robotaxis in two ways. Users will initially ride horse through the Waymo application. Once the service is expanded, Waymo will also send its independent horse riding cars on the Lyft application.

This is unlike her partnership with Uber in Atlanta and Austin. In those cities, all potential customers must use the Uber app in the hope that it will match a robot, not a human driver.
