As cities and cities in California become more aggressive with the ban on public camping, the need for consistent and clear camp policies is becoming more and more urgent. But the local authorities Use a patchwork from camp rules – exposure to a vulnerable population of even more harm, Calmatters’ reports Marisa KendallS

Calmatters have requested nearly three dozen cities and counties for copies of their camp management policies and found that their approaches vary greatly:

  • San Diego There is a 10 -page policy that describes things in detail, such as when cleaning can be carried out and how to deal with confiscated items.
  • Stockon He uses policies from his police station, which vaguely says that employees should “use reasonable care” and avoid destroying the property of uncontrolled.
  • Counts Santa Cruz and Monterey Now they are writing their first camp policies after governor Gavin Newo pushed for more even rules In May.
  • Mendocino County There is no camp policy.

So why is it important for these rules to be more flooded?

Some cities and counties are reluctant to prepare the bearing control rules if they know that they are likely not to follow it later, such as promising a paper shelter when no one is actually available.

But the bearing of the camp is a test that can further displace and injure people who have already suffered significant suffering. Giving people who are not imposed on people is focused on what they can expect, instead of vague instructions, can help with less traumatic:

  • Alex VisotskyA senior associate of California for the National Union to end homelessness: “People need to know when this garbage truck is coming. People need to know how long they need to be moving. And when there is nothing in the place at all and people just fly to the seat of their pants … This leads to more chaos.”

Forcing local authorities – more special through lawsuits – to determine policies, can also provide vital protection for non -exclusive people, such as requiring municipalities to give people with disabilities additional time to pack their belongings or prohibition of workers from fighting personal property.

While many Democrats at state and congress levels have approved allowing Californians to vote for redirected cards of Congress Prior to the average time in 2026, as a way of counteracting the self -distribution plan of Republicans in Texas, others face temporarily to bypass the Independent State Redistribution Commission.

Approved by the voters in 2008, the Commission reappoints the state’s electoral boundaries every 10 years in a non -partisan process that maintains competitive areas. Poll from Politico Posted last week found that voters prefer independent redistribution.

During a hearing on Tuesday, some former members of the committee, including some who are Democrats, have come up with the Newsom plan.

  • Connie Archbold RobinsonAn independent and former member of the committee: “If we dug the great work we did there, then not only we lose our confidence, these efforts are actually restrained and turn.”

Ever since the 40th California neighborhood was diverted from a left-wing region to a 2020-swaying racing area, the Democrats have fired to lose Republican representative Young Kim from their place. On Wednesday, immigration lawyer Lisa Ramirez entered the brawl as Last Congress Candidate to try to submit Orange CountyS

Calm Maya K. Miller Explains that Ramirez is probably the most famous as the lawyer who helped to release a detainee migrant father of three marine sons in the United StatesS She told Maya that her reasons to run in the competition in 2026 included the wave of mass detainees, the lack of a proper process and the disregard for the court orders under the Trump administration.

But Ramirez cut off her job for her: Kim beat her opponents with almost two -digit, and her Warchest includes $ 4 million money. If the voters approved plans to redistribute Newsom in the special election on November 4, the 40th area will also become an even more red place.
