Lifx is launching a $30 smart mirror and dimmer switch that can control smart bulbs

LIFX, one of Original smart lighting brandsis launching a smart mirror backed by matter, the first in-wall dimmer in the U.S., and a cheaper line of lamps and light strips starting at about $12. The company, which announced the new products at CES this week, says it plans to upgrade its entire current generation of devices to support Matter-over-Thread as well as Wi-Fi later this year.

The new Lifx SuperColor mirror features front and back lighting with makeup checking and anti-fog modes. It comes with three configurable buttons that allow you to control other smart home devices directly from the mirror. It supports Matter, so you can connect it to Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and other platforms.

The 36 x 22-inch mirror can be mounted horizontally or vertically, supports hardwired or plug-in installation, and provides individually controllable front and back lighting with full color effects similar to lefx moon lamp Ceiling light. Pricing has not been announced, but Lifx says it will launch in Q2 2026.

Also coming in Q2 is the $30 Lifx Smart Dimmer, which is an indoor paddle-shaped switch with four customizable buttons, a gradient light bar, and Matter support. Each button can be configured with single, double, or long press gestures to trigger other Lifx bulbs or smart home scenes across the compatible Matter platform.

In addition to standard LED, incandescent, and halogen bulbs, the switch can also control compatible dimmable smart bulbs — meaning you won’t have to choose between smart switches and dimmable smart color lighting. Requires a neutral wire and is compatible with 3-way setups.

In the same vein as its main competitor, Phillips HughLifx is launching a low-cost line of its smart bulbs.

The Everyday line joins the premium SuperColor line and retains the brand’s 90 CRI color accuracy, but with lower RGB output than the premium offerings, according to Mark Hollands, chief technology officer at Lifx.

The first products in the line are the Everyday Bulb (A19), an 800-lumen, full-color, tunable white bulb that offers a 2,700 to 6,500 Kelvin range. Bulbs are now available at Amazon and Lifx.com for $24 for a two-pack.

A 20-foot daily light strip with 24 addressable zones is available this month for $39.99. The Ribbon Controller also includes a four-button configurable controller that can trigger scenes on any Matter-compatible platform.

All new products and the current Lifx line support Matter-over-Wi-Fi, but later this year an OTA update will enable the option to switch to stringThanks to the dual protocol chip. Thread is one of the networking protocols used by Matter.

Lifx says it hopes this will make it easier for customers to purchase and set up devices, while giving them the option to switch to Thread later if they decide they need the protocol’s wider network coverage or want to reduce congestion on their Wi-Fi network.

“Wi-Fi is the lowest common denominator for connectivity, and although Thread has made progress in standardization and reliability, it is still gaining momentum,” says Hollands. Offering both means that customers can buy and set up the product without the Thread network and move to Thread later if they want its benefits.
