LG Electronics will unveil its first flagship LCD TV with RGB micro-LED backlighting CES in January. It’s called the LG Micro RGB Evo.
LG says that by using smaller LEDs, with more than 1,000 dimming zones, the LCD TV offers a “huge step forward” in picture quality. The TV uses the new α (Alpha) 11 AI processor based on the Dual AI Engine Gen 3 for backlight control as well as 4K upscaling.

The company says that RGB backlighting, instead of regular blue or white backlighting, enables the TV to generate more colors than ever before. LG says the TV has been Intertek certified for 100% color gamut coverage according to next-generation standards PT.2020.
The TV, model number MRGB95, will feature the next version of its webOS interface, which includes improved customization and AI chatbot integration.
Meanwhile, Samsung has announced its first RGB Micro LED backlight in 2025 with Micro RGB TVand there will likely be many more like it at CES 2026. Compared to other TVs, LG’s Micro RGB with 1,000 zones looks low compared to TVs like TCL QM8KWhich includes 5000 individual areas. More areas equals better contrast control.
The LG Micro RGB evo will be available in 100-inch, 86-inch, and 75-inch sizes, with pricing and availability to be confirmed. The company did not reveal any additional specifications, but more details are expected to be announced at CES.
