LG’s fastest, brightest OLED gaming monitor costs $999.99


LG is launching its GX7 OLED dual-mode display in the US, with refresh rates up to 720Hz. Based on LG Display 4th generation WOLED panelThe 26.5-inch 27GX790B can run at 540Hz at 1440p, or 720Hz at an unimpressive 720p.

The dual mode option lets you switch between 540Hz and 720Hz modes using a hotkey, allowing you to change to higher refresh rates for eSports games that can run at higher frame rates and switch back to 1440p resolution for games where you don’t need anything close to 720Hz.

Priced at $999.99, LG says 27GX790B It’s the company’s brightest OLED gaming monitor yet, thanks to the latest generation of tandem OLED displays that enable this panel to reach 335 nits of typical brightness. The 27GX790B also includes the usual 0.02ms OLED response times, DisplayPort 2.1 support, G-Sync and FreeSync Premium Pro compatibility, and DisplayHDR True Black 500 support.

Pre-orders for the 27GX790B begin today in the US, and LG is also assembling a collection 27-inch IPS screen with 1080p resolution ($299.99 value) with any pre-orders placed through February 1st. LG hasn’t revealed exactly when pre-orders will ship.
