Two years ago, Lenovo introduced the A A set of standard Magic Bay accessories For ThinkBook 16p. They plug into a magnetic pin connector on top of the laptop screen and add functionality like an enhanced 4K webcam or LTE connectivity. The company has since expanded Magic Bay compatibility to more of its laptops Clear concepts for additional accessories, but now opens the system to third-party accessory makers, As spotted VideoCardz.com.
According to an update shared by a Lenovo product manager on Chinese social media platform Weibo, Lenovo has “opened support for third-party accessories.” There’s no mention of specific companies that have expressed interest or signed on to create Magic Bay accessories, or what kind of hardware they might release, but the move would likely help further popularize the feature if there were more options available.
The manager also says that the new ThinkBook 14 Plus and 16 Plus will support Magic Bay accessories, increasing availability beyond the company’s more premium laptop offerings.
