Larian’s CEO says the studio is not shrinking teams to replace them with artificial intelligence

We have continually increased our pool of artists, writers and storytellers, and are actively assembling writers’ rooms, casting and recording performances from actors and hiring translators.

Since conceptual art was explicitly called for – we have 23 conceptual artists and have openings for more. These artists create an artistic concept day after day to use in ideation and production.

Everything we do is incremental and aims to get people to spend more time creating.

Any well-used machine learning tool is an addition to a creative team or individual’s workflow, not a replacement for their skills or craft.

We research and understand the latest machine learning technologies as a toolkit for creators to use and see how it can make their daily lives easier, which will allow us to make better games.

We’re not releasing a game with any AI components, nor are we looking to reduce teams to replace them with AI.

While I understand it’s a topic that brings up a lot of emotions, it’s something we constantly discuss internally through the lens of making everyone’s workday better, not worse.
