JBL has announced three new open-style earbuds that will be widely available in early 2026. The JBL Sense Pro and Sense Lite join the original Sense, which was released in 2024. The new Sense Pro and Lite use JBL’s OpenSound technology, support Dual Connect and Fast Pair, have adjustable earhooks for better comfort, and allow customization of touch control through the JBL app. We first heard about the earbuds in August 2025, but at the time there was no indication when they would arrive in the US.
What sets the Sense Pro apart are the 16.2mm drivers, spatial audio support, Hi-Res Audio with Adaptive Bass Boost, JBL’s voice pickup sensor technology (which uses bone vibrations to focus on your voice) and the use of an AI-trained algorithm to improve call quality. The Pro supports Bluetooth 6.0, and has up to 38 hours of playtime (eight hours with the headphones and an additional 30 hours with the case). It can be charged wirelessly, and a short 10-minute charge will give you four hours of playback. JBL’s Personi-Fi 3.0 is found in high-end earphones such as Pro Tour 3Allows you to adjust your equalization preferences by taking a hearing test within the app. Available colors include black and gray only.
The Sense Lite is lighter on features (no spatial audio, HD support, wireless charging, audio capture sensor technology, or Personi-Fi), but still offers up to 32 hours of playback time (24 hours with the case instead of 30 on the Pro), a quick 10-minute charge gets three hours of playback, they use Bluetooth 5.4, and the buds are IP54 rated. The Lite will be available in black, white, and purple.
In addition to the new Sense models, JBL is also releasing Soundgear Clips. It includes bass boost and an AI algorithm to optimize calls, offers up to 32 hours of playback like the Sense Lite, and is IP54 water and dust resistant. It will be offered in four transparent color options: copper, blue, purple, and white.
The OpenSound technology developed by JBL for open ear headphones uses air conduction – which is a fancy way of describing how sound moves through the air always It works – which directs sound to your ear while using phase cancellation to reduce distortion. Since the headphones don’t close in your ears, you can still hear the world around you without having to put on transparency.
All earbuds will be available starting March 2026. The Sense Pro is priced at $199.95, while the Sense Lite and Soundgear Clips are each priced at $149.95.
