JBL is adding a wide range of workout earbuds to its arsenal, with updates to its existing Peak and Run earbuds and the introduction of the Zone and Pace open-ear design. The assortment of earbuds includes open-style, ANC-sealed, and some inexpensive wired options, costing between $24.95 and $179.95.
Located at the top of the Endurance series, the Zone are JBL’s first open-ear sports headphones. They use OpenSound technology (the same technology found in JBL Science product line) with a flexible ear hook design to keep them secure during exercise while allowing you to hear your surroundings. An 18 x 11mm driver placement reduces sound leakage while listening to music or taking phone calls, and each earbud uses two beam-forming microphones for vocal clarity. The earbuds are IP68 rated, use Bluetooth 5.3, and support multipoint connectivity, Google Fast Pair, Google Finder, and Google Audio Switch. They’ll last up to eight hours on a charge, with another 24 hours from the case, and a quick 10-minute charge will give you three hours of listening. The Endurance Zone will be available in black with gray and white and will cost $179.95.
The Endurance Peak 4 is the first of the Peak line to include adaptive noise cancellation with an enclosed design and intelligent ambient, allowing for situational awareness when you’re out cycling or running. They’re also the only new earbuds to support spatial audio from the 10mm drivers. As with the Zone, the Peak 4 headphones have earhooks for stability, support multipoint, Google Fast Pair, Google Finder, Google Audio Switch, and are IP68 rated. The earbuds use Bluetooth 5.4, get up to 48 hours of total playtime (with case), and have six microphones (three per earbud) to help with call clarity and wind suppression. The Endurance Peak 4, priced at $129.95, will be available in black with grey, purple, and white.
Another set of sports earbuds with an open design are the Endurance Pace with OpenSound technology from JBL, but they use a neckband instead of being true wireless earbuds. The battery provides up to 10 hours of music listening or eight hours for calls, with a 10-minute quick charge to get you an additional four hours. The IP68 earbuds have two beam-forming microphones for calls and use of Bluetooth 5.4, plus Google’s suite features support for other earbuds (multipoint, quick pairing, Finder, and Audio Switch). It’s only available in black with gray for $89.95.
The Endurance Run 3 are magnetic wired earbuds with 8mm dynamic drivers and available with either a USB-C or 3.5mm connector. The USB-C version supports high-resolution audio and has a three-button remote with a microphone on the cable. There is only a one-button remote control on the 3.5mm version, which does not support high definition. Both are IP65 rated for dust and water protection. It comes in black with gray, and the USB-C version is priced at $34.95 while the 3.5mm version is priced at $24.95.
All earbuds will be available in the US next month.
