How and when we’ll see the Artemis II mission return to Earth


After 10 days On a journey to the far side of the moon, the Artemis 2 astronauts return to Earth. But in the words of NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, the mission will not end until everyone gets home safely. The re-entry of the Orion capsule is as important as the lunar mission itself: it is the final test to prove that the space agency has mastered the technology needed to usher in a new era of deep space exploration.

According to NASA’s schedule, Artemis II will reenter Earth’s atmosphere on Friday, April 10 at 5:07 PM PT. The broadcast, as with liftoff, will be available to view on NASA+ and streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Netflix and HBO Max. You can also watch NASA’s YouTube live stream below.

Re-entry details

If all goes well According to planThe manned module will enter the atmosphere near southeastern Hawaii at a maximum speed of 38,400 kilometers per hour and will take only 13 minutes to land in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California.

During entry, the temperature of the outside of the capsule will reach 2760 degrees Celsius. The crew will experience up to 3.9 grams, meaning they will feel a force equivalent to nearly four times their weight after spending a week in microgravity.
