The company announced this week that Honda successfully conducted a test “launch and missiles that can be reusable to the research and development company. This was the first time that Honda fell a missile after it had reached a height of 890 feet, According to a press statement.
The launch was held at the Honda Test Test facility, Japan, which the company says, “It was developing itself as a” space city “through joint efforts of public and private sectors,” including the Japanese Space Explore Agency (Jaxa). The missile flew about 21 feet, weighing more than 2,800 pounds at launch, for 56.6 seconds before “landing in the range of 37 cm from the targeted landing point” on its four withdrawable legs that also supported it in takeoff.
Honda has originally announced its plans to follow a space flight in late 2021, and while the company was especially about its progress, it benefits from the technologies that were previously developed in other areas, including automated driving systems, to help create the first reusable missile.
The company cites the increasing need for more satellites that are likely to benefit its other business as a reason to develop its launch system, but it has not ended the plans on how to market them.
“Although Honda Rocket Research is still in the basic research phase, and no decisions have been taken regarding the marketing of these missile technologies, Honda will continue to make progress in basic research with the goal of developing technology represented in achieving technological ability to empower the launch under the diet by 2029”
The journey without the infected – up to 62 miles above sea level – will be a great achievement for the company, but this is not enough to put a satellite successfully in the orbit. Honda will need to make a decision, based on what it takes to reach its goal for 2029, including the cost of the program, if it wants to take the next step and compete with other private companies such as Spacex and Blue Orige who is able to conduct tropical flights.
