Microsoft revealed on Friday that a new version of Halo: Combat Evolved will be released next year for Xbox Series consoles and PC, and for the first time on the PlayStation console. This will be a rebuilt version of the 2001 game that was first released on the original Xbox with new content.
Halo: Campaign Evolved will feature the original missions found in the first Halo game but with improved level design, updated cinematics, and improved wayfinding, according to Xbox Store existing. The remake will also feature higher-resolution graphics, improved controls, and three prequel missions that will star Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson.
Some other changes have been added to the new version, according to Her lista “wider arsenal of weapons, vehicles, and enemies,” and Challenge Skulls, which were first introduced in Halo 2 as optional gameplay modifiers with a variety of effects, such as increasing difficulty or randomizing weapons. Many features from later Halo games will be included, such as speedrunning and vehicle hijacking. Along with the graphics, the game’s score and sound will also be remastered.

Microsoft previously remastered and released the original Halo game shortly after taking control of the franchise Halo: Anniversary of Combat Evolution In 2011. But the upcoming Halo: Campaign Evolved has something extra: all-new prequel missions. These three missions take place before the events of the original game, and will include new environments, gameplay, characters, and enemies.
There will also be two-player and four-player online split-screen co-op, but online multiplayer is not mentioned on the store page.
Halo: Campaign Evolved will be released sometime in 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series Microsoft has not revealed the price of the new version, but it will be available on day one Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC subscribers.
