Google is advertisement ChromeOS has a variety of features focused on today’s classroom and accessibility, and one of the standout features is the ability to control your computer using your head and facial expressions. The feature – aimed at people with mobility disabilities – was It was first announced in early Decemberbut is now rolling out to more users with compatible Chromebooks (Google recommends 8GB of RAM or more).
This isn’t Google’s first foray into using the face as an indicator. I previously created an open source AI accessibility tool for Windows gaming called Game interface projectwhich was also Advertise for Android. Here’s a Google video sample of the technology in action, demonstrated by software engineer Amanda Lynn Dietz, who helped develop it.
Additionally, Google is also testing a slew of new Chromebooks for 2025, with more than 20 new devices arriving in the standard Chromebook and Chromebook Plus lines this year. This estimate may be a bit inflated, as Google appears to be counting the number Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus Which launched back in October, but it also counts what was just announced Lenovo Chromebook Plus 2-in-1 14-inch And more to come.
Along with laptops aimed at teachers and students, Google’s got a new set of classroom-focused ChromeOS features called Class tools. This allows teachers to have real-time control of their students’ screens. Once the pairing code is shared, teachers will be able to send live content to students on their Chromebook screens, play live captions or translations for them, view their screens remotely, and share student work with the entire class.
In addition to these collaborative tools, Google Classroom is also getting Figma’s integration Figjamallowing teachers to assign online whiteboards to students for brainstorming and group work. Perhaps the combination of FigJam and the teacher’s ability to snoop on students’ screens will reveal who’s really doing all the work for the group.
