If your Gmail account doesn’t seem to be working properly on Saturday, you’re not alone. But Google says the problem has been solved.
the Official status dashboard Google Workspace reports that the issues began around 5 a.m. PT on Saturday morning, with users experiencing “misclassification of emails in their inbox and additional spam warnings.”
For me, this meant that my primary inbox was full of messages that typically appear in promotional, social, or update inboxes, and that spam warnings were showing up in emails from known senders. Other social media users complained about this “All spam goes straight to my inbox” It appears that Gmail filters “Suddenly it was completely busted.”
Google’s dashboard was updated with messages throughout the day on Saturday stating that the company was still working on the issue. Later Saturday evening, Google posted that the issue had been “fully resolved for all users.”
“Some Gmail users experienced misclassification of emails in their inbox, and a delay in receiving email,” the company said in a dashboard update. “In addition, misclassified spam warnings from the incident may persist for existing messages that were received before the issue was resolved.”
The company also said it “will publish an analysis of this incident once we have completed our internal investigation.”
