Google announced on Monday the launch of new AI-powered features for booking and travel planning in search. The tech giant is expanding the availability of its AI-powered products Flight Deals tool.which adds the ability for users to organize travel plans through it “fabric” The tool is in AI mode, unlocking agent booking capabilities to more people.
Google first launched Flight Deals in August in the US, Canada and India. The company is now expanding the AI-powered search tool within Google Flights globally to help people quickly find affordable destinations.
To get started, users need to describe where, when and how they want to travel. Flight Deals will then use AI to show you the best deals available.
Flight Deals is now being offered in more than 200 countries and territories around the world, including the UK, France, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan and Korea. The tool also gets support for more than 60 languages.
As for the new AI mode features, Google says users can now use the built-in Canvas tool to create travel plans. Canvas, which was first launched as a way to build study plans and organize information over multiple sessions in a sideboard, can now help users plan their next trips.
Users need to tell the AI mode what type of ride they are looking for and then select the “Create with Canvas” option.
“You’ll instantly get a plan in the Canvas side panel that combines real-time search data for flights and hotels, details from Google Maps like photos, reviews, and relevant information from locations across the web,” Google explained in a blog post. “You’ll find suggestions that fit your criteria, such as hotel comparisons based on prices and amenities or ideas for restaurants and activities optimized by travel time from where you’re staying.”
Users can then ask follow-up questions and get help with trade-offs, such as choosing a hotel closer to the breakfast spot you want to try but a little further away from hiking trails you want to explore.
Travel Planning with Canvas is available on desktop in the US for users who have chosen to try out the AI mode in Labs.
Additionally, Google announced that it will bring AI Mode agent capabilities to more people. Earlier this year, Google announced that users who opted into experimental features can now get help Book restaurant reservations, event tickets, and beauty and wellness appointments In artificial intelligence mode. Now, the company is working on making this capability available to all users in the United States.
Users can request dinner reservations based on multiple preferences, such as party size, date and time, location, and preferred cuisine. The AI mode will then search across different booking platforms to find real-time availability of restaurants that match the query. It then shows a formatted list of options to choose from.
In the future, Google says it will make it possible to book flights and hotels directly in AI mode. Users will be able to describe what they are looking for and then compare different flights or hotels and browse information such as schedules, prices, room photos, amenities and ratings.
