Google Photos on Tuesday announced the launch of new features aimed at making the video editing process easier and highlighting the creation of shots. This includes specialized templates with predefined music and text overlays, as well as a redesigned video editor.
The new templates are currently rolling out to Android devices and allow users to choose from pre-made music and text to produce a professional-looking highlight clip in seconds. Users simply select a template and then choose the photos and videos they want to add. Google Photos will automatically create a video that goes with the beat of the music.
The update also makes highlight clips in the app faster and clearer. Highlight reels are collections of clips and photos from a user’s gallery, such as moments from a memorable vacation or birthday celebration. To create a highlight clip, users can go to the Create tab and click Highlight Video.

Additionally, the company has introduced a newly redesigned video editor, which is available on Android and iOS devices.
The new editor aims to be more user-friendly, featuring a “global timeline” that allows users to watch all their videos and other content in one place. It also includes an “adaptable canvas” that adjusts the editing interface to the needs of the specific user or project.
Also, with this new editor, users can combine music and text into one video.
The company says the redesigned editor will now serve as the default video editing tool on Android.

Another new feature is the option to explore the music library in Photos to find the perfect soundtrack for your featured videos. This is available on both Android and iOS devices.
Additionally, Android users can now add their own text overlays to their highlight videos, allowing for further customization with new fonts, colors, and backgrounds.
