One of the most interesting updates is the arrival of “know before you go” tips, powered by Google Gemini ai. When you search for restaurants, hotels, or event venues in Maps, scroll down and you’ll see insights gathered from reviews and web data. This will include information such as parking tips, dress codes, booking tips, or off-menu favorites. It’s like hiring a local expert who knows the place inside and out, saving you the stress of discovering surprises once you arrive.
These insider tips are now rolling out in the US on Android and iOS.
If you finish your holiday quests early and wonder what to do next, or if you don’t know which café is worth trying, the upgraded Explore tab is here to help. Scrolling up will show restaurants, activities and hidden places near you. Trusted sources, like Lonely Planet, OpenTable, or local influencers, contribute curated lists, making it easier to discover places you might miss during your travels.
The updated Explore tab will roll out globally on Android and iOS this month.
