Gemini AI features built into Chrome are now more widely available on the iOS version of Google’s browser, it reported 9to5Google and Engadget. These features appear several months after the features are rolled out to the desktop version It started in September.
Once the new Gemini features are activated on their iPhone or iPad, Chrome users will see a new icon in the left corner of the address bar (where the Google Lens icon used to be), shaped like a notebook page with a Gemini star icon in one of the corners. By clicking on this new icon, you can ask Gemini questions about what’s on the screen or ask it to summarize web pages.
The capabilities of this integration are still somewhat limited compared to what you’ll get on Gemini’s web page or app (or another chatbot), but it can still be useful if you want a quick answer without leaving the web page you’re on.
To test this feature, you must sign in on the iOS version of Chrome. Gemini integration does not work in incognito mode and currently only supports English. If you still see the Google Lens icon in your address bar instead of the new Gemini icon, try updating the Chrome app from the App Store and check again.
