Dyson has launched its first ever robot mop and vacuum cleaner. I’ve seen it in action

Dyson is one of the best manufacturers Cordless vacuums In the world, it earned several spots on our list of the best cordless vacuum cleaners for its strong cleaning performance and attractive design. Although they are not famous for this, the company has been making them Robotic vacuum cleaners Since the 1990s, with its first model, the DC06, debuting in 2001. Its most recent is the Dyson Spot+Scrub AI, the company’s first wet and dry robot vacuum.

“We have now designed a robot that intelligently detects, identifies and cleans stains, spills and debris, identifying stubborn spots and screening them until they disappear, using advanced artificial intelligence,” James Dyson, Dyson founder, said in a statement. “It’s a smart, adaptable designed machine. The wet drum also cleans itself with fresh water as it spins, ensuring your floors stay clean.”

Dyson Spot+Scrub living room cleaning with AI

The Spot+Scrub is the company’s first wet and dry robot vacuum, but it comes with many of the features we’ve come to expect from higher-end models.

Dyson

The Spot+Scrub AI takes over from previous models like the Dyson 360 Vis Nav and competes directly with models from Roborock, Ecovacs, Eufy, Shark and others that have dominated the robot vacuum market recently. I was able to see him in action for a brief moment at Dyson’s Soho Store, watching him clean and move around in an enclosed area. It wasn’t an extensive demonstration, but it worked well in the enclosed area, cleaned up the mess, and then self-emptied and self-cleaned at a nearby docking station.

It cleans using what Dyson calls a 12-point humidification system, which uses fresh, hot water from the drum to remove stains. The drum self-cleans with every cycle, a feature we’ve seen in many high-end robot vacuums, so it’s good to see Dyson joining the club. The roller also extends to 1.6 inches to clean tight corners and skirting boards.

Perhaps most notable is Dyson’s AI stain detection system, which the company says can recognize 200 types of household materials and objects and can revisit the same area until stains are removed. It uses the green LED we saw on Dyson pencil vac and Dyson V16 Animal Piston It detects the stain (with some help from the AI-powered camera), and continues cleaning the stain until the stain is removed.

“By combining lidar room scanning technology and camera vision systems, Spot + Scrub Ai is able to detect stains and accurately navigate around obstacles, while mopping and vacuuming floors,” Jake Dyson, chief engineer at Dyson, said in a statement. “It constantly adapts its cleaning patterns based on real-time detection of debris, sticky spills and stains. When it detects a stain, the robot performs up to 15 cleaning operations focused on the area, using its high-resolution camera to monitor until the stain is completely removed. At the same time, the cleaning drum is continuously washed with hot water in motion, to ensure each area is thoroughly cleaned with a stain-free floor.”

Dyson Spot+Scrub AI docked

The Spot+Scrub AI has a bagless, self-emptying trash can in its docking station, as well as a clean and dirty water reservoir.

Dyson

This seems similar to the feature that Shark revealed on Shark UV detectionWhich uses a combination of UV lighting, an AI-powered camera to identify stains, and a traditional flat mop pad to clean. The Spot+Scrub also features object avoidance capabilities and supports the MyDyson app.

In terms of other specs, you’re looking at a docking station that has a bagless, self-emptying trash can and a cyclone. Dyson says it can store up to 100 days’ worth of dust and comes with a dust filter that can trap particles as small as 0.1 microns. There are 0.6 gallons of clean water and 0.55 gallons of dirty water.

the AI Spot + Scrub It will cost you $1,199, and is available now from Dyson. However, it’s not the only cleaning product Dyson is launching.

Dyson wet and dry cleaners

Clean+Wash Hygiene cleans hard floors and spills

The Clean+Wash Hygiene is Dyson’s latest wet and dry cleaner.

Dyson

Also new is the wet and dry cleaner with Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene. Similar to other Dyson models we’ve seen and tested, it’s a wet and dry cleaner that doesn’t use suction. Instead, it uses a microfiber roller to remove messes from hardwood floors, and it doesn’t come with a filter for debris that needs to be cleaned or can become clogged. It’s a little bigger than… Dyson pen lotion I’ve had it hands-on previously at a Soho store, but it’s not particularly heavy at 8.4 pounds.

Like the PencilWash, it can lie flat and be placed under low furniture thanks to its 4.4-inch size. There’s also a docking station with hot air drying and self-cleaning, which is a feature I’ve been wanting in Dyson wet and dry cleaners for some time. Clean+Wash Hygiene costs $499 and is available now.

Finally, the aforementioned PencilWash will also be available $350.
