Discord is delaying the rollout of global age verification

Discord already runs security systems that catch spam rings, prevent raids, and detect coordinated abuse, powered by our own rules engine (which we just opened up as Osprey for other platforms to use). Age identification works the same way, using the same class of signals at the account level: how long your account has been around, whether you have a payment method on file, the types of servers you use, and general patterns of account activity. He doesn’t read your messages, analyze your conversations, or look at the content you post. We know that “trust us” is not enough here, which is why we will publish the methodology before the global launch.
