Control Resonant expands the scope of healing with new settings and new threats

One of the biggest Game Awards announcements on Thursday was The sequel to Control is due in 2021. Developer Remedy Entertainment has revealed that players will return to the superhero universe in Control Resonant, scheduled for release next year.

Control Resonant puts players in the role of Dylan Faden, the younger brother of protagonist Jesse Faden. Dylan, previously imprisoned by the FBI due to his supernatural abilities, must now use those powers to fight a cosmic threat while trying to find his sister.

The clip shows Dylan waking up from his coma and being guided by a voice from another dimension. He then climbs out of the subway tunnel to fight Monster City. What followed was a quick cut to various action sequences as Dylan used various melee weapons to take down enemies.

Unlike the previous game, which had players exploring the FBC headquarters, Control Resonant has players on the streets of Manhattan fighting supernatural threats that have escaped from the FBC.

Who is Dylan Faden?

Like his sister, Dylan has unusual superpowers. He was brought to FBC headquarters and added to the Future Director Candidates Program as Principal Candidate 6 or P6. However, his powers were unpredictable, prompting the Federal Broadcasting Commission (FBC) to contain him.

When Jesse found Dylan during the events of Control, he fell under the influence of a supernatural force called the Hessa, which had invaded the FBC headquarters. Jesse manages to save Dylan, but he remains in a coma.

What is the treatment?

The Remedyverse is a shared universe between Remedy Entertainment games. In 2010, Remedy Entertainment released Alan Wake, its first mainline game since the release of the first two Max Payne games. In Alan Wake, there were references to Max Payne that seemed like Easter eggs. It was not until the release of Control that players realized that Remedy had created a true shared world.

Control Resonant will be released in 2026 for PC, PS5, Mac, and Xbox Series
