Google Announce on Monday that its Chrome browser can now fill in a passport, driver’s license, vehicle registration and more as part of the autofill feature.
This extension extends Chrome’s existing ability to automatically fill in your addresses, passwords, and payment information.
Desktop users who have enabled Enhanced Autofill will see their passport, driver’s license number, vehicle information — such as license plate or VIN — and more automatically populated on web pages when prompted to enter them.
Google says Chrome can now also better understand complex forms and diverse formatting requirements, which will improve accuracy across the web.
The tech giant points out that Chrome only saves autofill data when you give it permission to do so and that the browser will protect this information with encryption. Additionally, before Chrome fills in the saved information for you, it will ask you for confirmation.
These new updates are available globally in all languages starting Monday. The company says that in the coming months, Chrome plans to add support for more data types.
Monday’s announcement comes as Google adds additional functionality to Chrome to make it more useful amid growing… New AI browsers.
