Carol searches for the truth (the serum) in a multi-episode

Last week One of my big questions about… For many It was whether our reluctant heroine Carol (Rhea Seehorn) would find someone to help her save the world from the scourge of happiness. In Episode 4, I got an answer – sort of. We’re clearly introduced to a character who thinks a lot like her, but how they actually communicate is still a big question mark.

Welcome to our weekly discussion about The latest sci-fi series on Apple TV For manywhich comes across Very bad The creator (and former X-Files Writer) Vince Gilligan. In the series, most humans have become part of a hive mind that seems capable only of positive emotions, while the ever-miserable Carol is one of a handful of “survivors”, and also someone who desperately wants the world to go back to the way it was. Each week I share some of my top questions about the latest episode, and edge Subscribers can use comments to respond and ask their own questions and put forward other theories and ideas. Of course, Spoilers ahead For the first four episodes of For many.

This week’s episode started off again with a slow, mostly dialogue-free sequence. This time we saw Manosos (Carlos Manuel Vesga) – particularly the lone survivor who seems to hate the cell as much, if not more, than Carol – living a squalid life inside a storage facility. He refuses any help or even contact with the cell, so he is left to eat old sugar packets and cans of dog food to survive. He seems very committed to his principles. More importantly, his anger at Cell makes him seem like the perfect mate for Carol. Except, of course, that they live on opposite sides of the world and don’t speak the same language.

Meanwhile, now that the reality of the situation seems to have sunk in for Carol, she ends up spending most of this episode trying to find out as much information about the cell as possible. The biggest thing to learn is that they can’t lie to her outright, but they do He can Avoid telling her the truth. Unfortunately, this leads to Carol creating a type of truth serum that is also incredibly dangerous. Poor Zosia (Karolina Wydra). Anyway, here are my top three questions now:

How will communication between Carol and Manosos take place?

It seems inevitable. But there are so many logistical issues involved with traveling from Peru to the United States in this new world, it’s hard to see how that will happen. The problems are only compounded by the fact that Manosos will accept no help at all from the cell. And even when they meet, how will they communicate?

Can Carol know the actual truth?

By this I mean whether it is possible to undo the “joining,” as it is called, and return the world to the way it was. Cell’s reluctance to tell her either way suggests that it is indeed possible, but Carol is also up against a few billion people who are all working together to prevent her from “fixing” things. The truth serum was a good idea and it didn’t quite work… and probably created a bigger problem.

How long will the cell hold Carol?

Although it may be unintentional at times, as Carol continues to harm the hive, she must consider that at some point she will get bored and her self-preservation instincts will kick in. Especially considering that Carol is actively working to undo their relationship. Then again, they’re determined to make her happy no matter the cost (hand grenade, anyone?). These two elements are in direct conflict, and it will be fascinating to see how they clash.
