California has requested broadcasting services such as Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video and YouTube to stop lifting the sound level during commercial breaks. Under a law It was signed by the governor of California, Gavin News On Monday, ads will be needed to broadcast at the same volume of content that is broadcast on the provider platform that begins in July 2026.
Bill 576 was submitted in February by Senator California, Tom Omberg, citing a complaint from one of his employees about the high size of broadcasting ads that disturb the newborn’s sleep. In a statement After registering the bill in the law, Omberg said he was inspired by “every tired father finally got a child sleeping, just to obtain a flowing advertisement that is back away from all this hard work.”
The legislation is designed on the law of mitigating the vote of commercial ads (calm), which imposes restrictions on the size of ads for TV broadcasters at the federal level, but it does not apply to banners. Given the massive effect of California on the American entertainment industry, the new law can define a national standard.
“We heard the residents of California out loudly and clearly, and what is clear is that they do not want commercial ads in a folder with a higher level than the level they were previously enjoying for a program,” New News said in a statement. “By signing SB 576, California calls this inconvenience via broadcasting platforms, which was not previously subject to the commercial size systems approved by Congress in 2010.”
