Blackmagic’s free camera app can now stream to YouTube and Twitch


Blackmagic has released an update to Free camera app With some new features that streamers and professional broadcasters will appreciate. both Android and iOS Versions of the Blackmagic Camera app can now stream directly to YouTube, Twitch, and Vimeo, eliminating the need for third-party apps or additional encoders. All you have to do is select your platform and enter your secure streaming key. While streaming, you’ll still have access to in-app controls so you can quickly adjust settings like exposure and focus.

The update also adds support for SRT: a more modern streaming protocol frequently used by professional broadcasters that is optimized for networks whose speeds and reliability are less consistent, such as the Internet. Blackmagic Camera is also gaining support for dedicated RTMP and SRT servers for streamers who want alternatives to the three platforms now supported.

Other app improvements include detailed, instant alerts when an external drive is disconnected to help prevent data loss when working with high-resolution, high-frame-rate Apple ProRes files that the iPhone can’t record internally. There is now an option to specify the number of multiple viewing angles while monitoring cameras remotely, allowing for more flexibility when customizing the layout of multiple video feeds on a larger screen device like an iPad or Mac.
