hosting.com (formerly A2 Hosting) is an independent web host that offers both managed and unmanaged WordPress hosting. WordPress hosting plans from Hosting.com come with WordPress pre-installed and a set of performance plugins designed to monitor and improve site speed. These plans also include marketing plugins like All In One SEO and Optin Monster.
All Hosting.com plans run on Turbo servers, which use a combination of servers optimized by LiteSpeed and special caching methods that theoretically improve site speeds. However, during testing, I discovered that Hosting.com’s servers were actually slow compared to other hosts like Hostinger and SiteGround. My Hosting.com site also experienced five minutes of downtime during my testing week, which is more than most hosts I’ve tested.
Hosting.com offers great security, from standard SSL certificate and firewall protection to advanced malware scanning and 24/7 security monitoring. Automated backups are also included in managed WordPress hosting plans.
Unfortunately, I encountered major issues when retesting Hosting.com, including a complicated purchasing process and difficulties reaching customer service. While some of the usability issues I experienced with setting up cPanel and WordPress on the Basic plan may not apply to our WordPress hosting plans — which use Optimize Panel, an alternative to cPanel — this experience makes me hesitant to recommend Hosting.com to WordPress users.
HostPapa
HostPapa It is a Canadian web hosting company with plans available in several currencies, including the Canadian dollar, the euro, and the Australian dollar. In fact, the Canadian Dollar payment option is one of the main reasons I chose HostPapa — it’s a company I’ve been using for my personal websites since 2019, and I’ve had an overall positive experience working with their user control panel and customer service agents. I also appreciate the availability of Canadian servers through HostPapa. However, there is only one server in Europe and none in Asia or Australia, so HostPapa is not an ideal choice for other international users.
HostPapa offers powerful WordPress hosting plans with features like pre-installed WordPress and Jetpack (a popular plugin for optimizing your site). The WordPress installer helps you choose the right theme and plugins for your site during the initial setup, and once setup is complete, HostPapa will make updates to the core CMS – and plugins in certain plans – for you.
HostPapa websites are secured with an SSL certificate, firewall protection, and DDoS protection. However, HostPapa limits automated backups and malware scanning to higher-tier plans; This is common among mainstream web hosts, but it’s a major drawback when compared to our best WordPress hosts.
Overall, HostPapa offers good service, but it doesn’t stand out enough to earn a spot on our main list of the best WordPress hosting companies.

Godaddy It offers three managed WordPress hosting plans with WordPress pre-installed. The higher-tier managed WordPress plans also include automatic WordPress updates. All GoDaddy WordPress plans use NVMe storage to improve site speed and include the Airo Optimizer to help you identify other ways to speed up your site.
Each plan includes an SSL certificate and at least weekly backups. There’s also malware scanning and a firewall, but when I spoke to customer service, they said this is a “one-time only” thing, so if you want to keep your site protected after its first encounter with malware, you’ll need to sign up for an additional security service.
In our testing, we found GoDaddy to be fairly easy to use, with excellent server performance and good customer service. However, high prices and lack of permanent firewall protection prevent it from earning a spot on our main list of WordPress hosting recommendations. This indicates that HostGator customer support is inconsistent across channels. And with prices starting at $3.75 per month for the first year, HostGator isn’t worth the cost when you can get better service for the same price or less.

Unfortunately, InMotion Hosting performed poorly during our tests, with more than an hour of downtime in one week and slow server speeds. It also proved impossible to reach customer service despite the inclusion of live chat and support ticket options.
