AI’s referrals to web sites still have a way to go to catch the traffic provided by Google Search, but they grow quickly. According to new data from the market intelligence provider similarIn June, artificial intelligence platforms produced more than 1.13 billion referrals to the best 1,000 worldwide sites, a number of 357 % since June 2024.
However, Google’s research continues to explain the majority of traffic to these sites, which represents 191 billion referrals during the same period of June 2025.
One category of attention these days is news and media. Online publishers see traffic drops and prepare for one day they call “Google Zero” Google stops sending traffic to web sites.

Regarding the methodology, AI is similar to artificial intelligence as web deals to a field from the AI platform such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Deepseek, Grok, Perplexity, Claude and Liner. Chatgpt dominates here, which represents more than 80 % of artificial intelligence referrals to the best 1000 fields.
The company’s analysis also viewed other categories that go beyond news, such as e -commerce, science, education, technology/research/social media, art and entertainment, business, and others.
In e -commerce, Amazon Etsy and Ebay followed when it comes to those sites that witness most of the referrals, at 4.5m, 2.0M and 1.8M, respectively, during the month of June.

The analysis ruled out Openai because many of its referrals were from Chatgpt, noting its services.
Through all other fields, site 1 included artificial intelligence referrals for each YouTube category (31.2M), search portal (3.6 m), zillow (776.2K), Europa.eu (992.9k), Wikipedia (10.8m), Nih.gov (5.2M), Investing.com (1.2M), Home) and Zara (325.6K).
