For a long time, Windows looked like Windows. Version numbers and features have changed, but the basic architecture of the computer has not. With Windows 8, Microsoft tried to shake things up…and we know how that turned out. So, Windows, in general, is back to being Windows. People were mostly grateful for that.
Now, however, the entire platform is up in the air again. To hear Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella tell it, you may not use your computer for a long time! The future, Microsoft believes, is customers. Thus agents are placed in every nook and cranny of Windows, starting from the taskbar.
on This episode of vertcastNilay and David try to figure out what Microsoft is up to, and what a big step toward making your PC a proxy might look like. They also talk about the launch of Gemini 3, Google’s best model yet, and whether Google is starting to build a lead over the rest of the industry.
Next, the hosts discussed the end of Meta’s antitrust trial, where Judge Boasberg found that Meta was not a monopoly. Boasberg’s take is a fairly intelligent and incisive take on the current state of the web — and it includes some Greek philosophy, which we can’t help but talk about. This is certainly not over yet, but it’s looking good for the Meta so far.
Finally, in the sneak peek, it’s time for a fun-filled episode of Brendan Carr is a Dummy, followed by talk about Matter 1.5, the MS NOW rebrand, and the Boox Palma 2 Pro display.
