Astronauts eat: They’re not just Tang and Space chopsticks these days. NASA shared a look at the list For the Artemis 2 astronauts, it doesn’t look half bad.

The Artemis II crew will enjoy more than 10 types of beverages, including coffee, mango and peach smoothies, green tea, apple juice, lemonade, pineapple liqueur, cocoa and breakfast drinks in chocolate, vanilla or strawberry flavors.

The most common food items they will eat include tortillas, wheat flatbread, vegetable quiche, roast beef, mango salad, granola with blueberries, macaroni and cheese, tropical fruit salad, couscous with nuts, broccoli au gratin, spicy green beans, almonds, cashews, cauliflower, and squash.

NASA also reports that astronauts can choose to add spice to their meals, as there are five different hot sauces available to the crew. Available culinary flavors include maple syrup, chocolate spread, peanut butter, spicy mustard, strawberry jam, honey, cinnamon, and almond butter. Delicious desserts include cookies, chocolates, candy, cakes, candy-coated almonds, and cobblers.

No, they’re not taking flavored pills or sucking a sandwich out of a tube, as old sci-fi shows told us.

“Food on Orion is ready-to-eat, rehydrated, heat-stabilized, or irradiated,” NASA says. “The crew uses the Orion drinking water dispenser to rehydrate food and drinks, and also uses the built-in bag-style food warmer to heat meals as needed.”
