Apple’s new App Store rules aim to share personal data using artificial intelligence


Apple has updated Application Review Instructions page On Thursday, changes were introduced to the handling of sharing personal data and the requirements that must be met before doing so. Incompatible applications can be removed from App Store.

The updated language in the rules states that personal data shared with third parties must be clearly disclosed and only with the user’s express permission.

The language reflects the previous guidelines, but indicates that these include third parties as well artificial intelligence:

“You must clearly disclose where personal data is shared with third parties, Including with third-party artificial intelligenceGet explicit permission before doing so. Data collected from apps may only be shared with third parties to improve the app or deliver advertising (in accordance with the Apple Developer Program License Agreement).

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
