Apple Music is adding transparency tags to highlight AI music, the report says

Apple Music is changing the way record labels and distributors can label AI-generated or AI-powered content when it is uploaded to the platform.

according to Music acts around the worldApple sent a newsletter to industry partners on Wednesday explaining how it will roll out a new set of metadata to enhance transparency about how and when artificial intelligence is used in music.

Metadata typically refers to fields such as song title, album title, genre, artist name, and other information that helps keep files organized. Apple Music will now add the option to include metadata tags that distributors can use to flag AI-generated content in certain aspects of a song. These tags allow distributors to differentiate the artwork of a song, track (music), composition (lyrics), or music video.

This seems to be something Apple Music users are interested in, as a Reddit user posted it A mockup of a concept with a similar feature Just days ago. But the problem with this type of signup is that it falls on the label or distributor to manually choose to indicate the use of AI. Spotify takes a similar path.

Other music streaming platforms such as Deezer They try to flag content using in-house AI detection tools, but it’s still difficult to create the kind of system with maximum accuracy.
