If you’re confused about Apple’s version of iPhone cross body strapThen you will find something new iPhone pocket More confused. The Pocket is a knitted case, although it might be more appropriate to describe it as a sock designed to snuggly encase your iPhone, rather than just tuck it into your purse or pocket.
This limited-edition collaboration with Japanese designer Issey Miyake can be yours for $229.95 USD. This is for the crossbody version available in blue, brown or black. A shorter version is available in additional color options (including bright orange, yellow, purple, pink, and turquoise) for $149.95, which can be slung over your arm or attached to a bag.
Apple says the 3D-knit design was inspired by “a piece of fabric” (yes, really), and was born from the idea of “creating an additional pocket” that can fit “any iPhone” and small everyday items. This means it can carry more than Apple’s $59 iPhone strap.
“The design of the iPhone Pocket speaks to the relationship between the iPhone and its user, keeping in mind that an Apple product is designed to be aesthetically universal and versatile,” says Miyake Design Studio’s design director, Yoshiyuki Miyamae. “iPhone Pocket explores the concept of ‘the fun of wearing iPhone your way.’”
iPhone Pocket will be available for purchase online starting November 14, and from a few Apple Store locations in the US, France, Greater China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and the UK.
