Apple is turning Siri into an AI bot much like ChatGPT


Apple is planning an overhaul of Siri that will turn the voice assistant into an AI chatbot built directly into iPhones and Macs, according to Apple. Bloomberg Reporter Mark Gorman. The update is said to be coming later this year and will replace the current Siri interface, allowing users to interact with the assistant by typing and speaking, similar to chatbots available from Google, OpenAI, Anthropic and others.

Apple is reportedly planning to unveil the Siri AI update, codenamed Campos, during its Worldwide Developers Conference in June before its launch in September. This will be the “essential new addition” to iOS 27, iPadOS, and macOS 27, with other updates mostly focused on stability, Gorman writes.
