Anthropic brings proxy plugins to Cowork

The idea behind plugins is simple: they are designed to automate “specialized” tasks within different company departments. Whether that job is drafting content for the marketing department, reviewing risks in documents for the company’s legal team, or drafting responses to customer support, the proxy automation plugin is designed to simplify work with a specialized focus.

The company says you can use the plugins to “tell Claude how much you want work done, what tools and data you can leverage, how to handle important workflows, and which slash commands to reveal so your team gets more consistent results.”

Matt Picolella, who works on the product team at Anthropic, told TechCrunch that the plugins are designed to be customized, and that the company expects enterprise users to create their own custom use cases. Anthropic unlocked 11 internal plug-ins as part of Friday’s release, but noted that the custom plug-ins are “easy to create, edit, and share” and can be used without a lot of technical expertise.

Anthropic says the more enterprise users use the plugins, the more Claude learns about the company’s workflow and how to improve it. Currently, plugins are saved locally on the user’s device, though Anthropic says an enterprise-level sharing tool is on the way.

Cowork, which was released about two weeks ago, is currently in search preview. It is unclear when it will be released more widely. For now, the plugins will be available to all paying Claude customers, Anthropic says.
