Amazon’s new Kindle Scribe and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft will launch on December 10

After unveiling the latest Kindle Scribe devices and the first ever color Kindle Scribe device In SeptemberAmazon announced on Thursday that the devices will be available for purchase starting December 10.

The new Kindle Scribe features a larger 11-inch glare-free display, is just 5.4mm thick, and weighs just 400g. It’s also 40% faster when typing or turning pages. Amazon says it features new molded glass to improve friction when the pen slides across the screen to make it feel like you’re writing on paper.

The device also comes with a new quad-core chip, more memory, and the latest Oxide display technology developed by the company to make everything smoother.

There are two versions of Kindle Scribe, one with a front lighting system and one without. The front-lit Kindle Scribe will be available on December 10, starting at $499.99. The headlight-less version will be available early next year for $429.99.

As for the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, Amazon says it features display technology that creates soft colors and doesn’t hurt your eyes like an LCD screen. The company has also developed a new display engine that enhances color and ensures that typing is fast and natural. Plus, the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft offers weeks of battery life, Amazon notes.

The devices feature a new home experience that allows users to jot something down and open recently opened and added books, documents, and notebooks. Amazon expects both devices to be used for taking handwritten notes, and the devices include important product integrations to enhance that experience. One feature will allow users to search through their notes across their notebooks and get simple AI-powered summaries. Next year, users will be able to send their notes and documents to Alexa+ and have a more interactive conversation about them.

Additionally, Colorsoft allows artists to create smooth gradations and precise tones with a new shader tool. Users can write, draw, and annotate using one of ten pen colors or highlight using one of five highlight colors.

The devices will also have new AI-powered reading features. The new “Story So Far” feature will allow users to follow the book they are currently reading back to where they read it. The Ask This Book feature allows users to highlight any passage of text while reading a book and get spoiler-free answers to questions about things like character motivations or the significance of a scene.
